Mr. Ed’s is a community store in North Lawndale, a neighborhood in Chicago’s West side. Located on historic 16th St., where Dr. Martin Luther King lived during his time in Chicago fighting for housing rights, Del Kar Pharmacy has been an anchor in the neighborhood for two generations. This store will incorporate a bright, contemporary palette and simple materials. Historic photographs will be integrated into accent walls. The store will serve hot food, sell vegetables from local community gardens, and also general goods. This project is supported by the Neighborhood Opportunity Fund.
