Recently, we’ve been interested in the architectural implications of night: what occurs, flickers, transpires, is built or destroyed, in the hours of darkness? Who do you break the law with? What wakes at twilight? Can night be an allegory for entering into the subconscious and uncanny territories of the built environment and lived experience?

About / Contact

Inspired by Chicago’s historic Worker Cottage, a long narrow home that emphasized simple and efficient construction, this house uses good design to create a highly functional single-family home for a standard city lot. This home turns building code regulations into design-driven assets such as: a generous side-yard, an on-site rain garden, and an elegant exposed concrete floor that celebrates slab-on-grade construction.
