Evanston House
A simple house with a lot of light: this Evanston home lifts the roof to add a continous clerestory window, creating a gallery-like space for living and entertaining.
This ground-up single-family house in Evanston, Illinois is a large open volume with a simple central core. Tall ceilings and a flexible space for both living and entertaining allow the house’s residents to both exhibit their art work, collections, and entertain. A generous basement allows for additional living space with the option of a guest room or caretakers suite.
Monochromatic finishes throughout emphasize a range of unique, non-traditionally domestic materials which remain a quiet backdrop. A long row of large, clerestory windows inspired by industrial factory spaces let in muted northern light throughout the day.
