Attainable Housing


Good design is for everyone. Thoughtful and functional layouts, access to light and air, and spatial experiences which transcend the everyday shouldn’t cost more. The housing crisis is at the intersection of many pressures, from zoning restrictions to the uneven benefits of development. Too often architects respond with formulaic, uninspired solutions: the 5-over-1, double-loaded corridor scheme has become so ubiquitous in both market-rate and subsidized affordable housing that TikTok calls it “fast casual architecture.” Future Firm looks for critical opportunities—loopholes in the status quo—where construction technology and development approaches drive down cost while improving livability and the beauty of everyday life.
